AHL Quick Fire

AHL/CCM Player of the Week

Barnburner named Andreas Johnsson as this week’s most outstanding player. The Toronto Marlies’ forward scored 3 goals and collected 5 assists, good for 8 points in 5 games. Johnsson scored 1 game winning goal and he has superb shooting percentage of 27.3%.

The Marlies just swept the Syracuse Crunch and punched their tickets for the Eastern Conference final.

The Marlies are moving on!

EAST:

Four games, four wins for the Toronto Marlies, who just swept the Syracuse Crunch to advance to the Eastern conference final.

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms are getting stronger as the playoffs go on. They won their last game against the Charlotte Checkers 5 to 1, and now have the upper hand in the series, 2 games to 1. Momentum is on their side; it will take a lot from the Checkers if they want to overturn the series.

WEST:

The Rockford Icehogs are perfect in 2 games against the Manitoba Moose. Rockford’s young players are contributing in every way and are giving the Moose everything they can handle.

After loosing the first game in an overtime thriller against the Tucson Roadrunners, the Texas Stars came back and are now up 2 games to 1.

2018-2019 AHL alignment

The AHL has announced its new divisions for the next season. With a new team, the Colorado Eagles, the league has decided to move a couple of teams in different divisions.

-          Colorado will join the Pacific Division.

-          The San Antonio Rampage and the Texas Stars will move from the Pacific Division to the Central Division.

-          The Cleveland Monsters will leave the Central Division to join the North Division.

Those are logical movements, but it will put the 4 worst teams in the same division has the Laval Rocket, the Belleville Senators, the Binghamton Devils and now the Cleveland Monsters will all be in the North Division. One question arises from these moves; from how many points will the Marlies improve their total from last season?
