TORONTO — Toronto Argonauts Quarterback James Franklin will make his first start since Week 7’s 40-14 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on July 27th. 9 weeks later, Franklin gets a second shot at the starting job Friday night against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Franklin relieved McLeod Bethel-Thompson to start the 4th quarter against the BC Lions and threw 2 touchdowns and 103 yards. That’s 6 more yards than Bethel-Thompson managed in 3 quarters.

On top of that, he’s the only QB under contract for the Argos for 2019. So Toronto needs to see what he’s made of.

At this point, Toronto can only play spoiler to their Eastern Rivals Hamilton and Ottawa. Not only do they have just one home game remaining, two of the Argos final 4 games are against the Montreal Alouettes.

The Argonauts can also prevent Hamilton from sweeping the season series for the first time since 2015.

Avoiding a 7th straight loss would probably be nice too.

Some good news for Toronto on the injury front, SJ Green is listed as starting on the depth chart and it looks like he will play this evening.

Running Back Branden Burks remains in for the injured RB James Wilder Jr. while Anthony Alford also returns to the receiving core. Defensive Back Matt Black will also dress tonight but likely won’t see much action.

For Hamilton, QB Jeremiah Masoli has a better career record away from Hamilton at 11-7, and has 4 career wins against the Argos, the most against any rival.

WR Luke Tasker need just 84 yards to reach 1000 yards for the 3rd time in 4 years.

The Argos will play for their dignity and try to make sure that doesn’t happen against them.
