Six Straight Wins For Toronto

My mom has always wanted to go to Tennessee, specifically Nashville. She says she thinks it “looks like a sweet place to go” and to be honest with you I couldn’t agree more!  Toronto visited the home of blues, Graceland, B.B Kings stomping grounds, the birthplace of rock and roll- Memphis! Calling to the court, the Grizzlies sans Canadian Dillon Brooks as he is still out due to a MCL sprain. I think if they were to re-locate that they should be named the “Nashville Honky Tonks”! What do you think ?

Speaking of Memphis , if you’re in Woodbridge , you should check out Memphis BBQ ( at Islington Ave & Highway 7) because they have the most succulent BBQ in the Greater Toronto Area.

Ibaka starts for Toronto and wins the jump. Within seconds he pulls up and hits the jumper. You could tell this was going to be a successful night for the boys in red.  Toronto goes on an 8-0 run to start the game.

Kawhi starts once again for the Raps after a hot game Sunday night vs the Miami Heat and vs Washington Friday night. In those two games Leonard put up a combined 56 pts & 20 reb. But, tonight wasn’t about Leonard it was all about Kyle Lowry and Mike Conley.

Fun Fact: Kawhi Leonard has more career steals(749) than fouls (727).

Grizzly Omri Casspi went off in the second contributing 10 pts, 5 reb for Memphis(37-31). Come to mention it the whole pack of bears dominated!  Thank goodness for the clock running out because things were getting out of hand. First Ibaka with the technical foul, then Leonard won’t a personal  and coach Nick Nurse received a tech because of the call on Kawhi . Memphis outscored Toronto 39-28 in the second frame.

As mentioned earlier this was a game of two former teammates, Conley and Lowry.  Lowry was his usual composed (playing style) self finishing with team high 24 pts, 6 ast. Conley on the other hand had 20pts, 6 ast and 5 reb. A key component. To winning this game was to keep Conley under wraps and that’s exactly what they did.

Toronto tied the game at 105 thanks to Fred Van Vleet with a deep 3pt shot in the 4th quarter and then finally regained the lead to outscore Memphis 29-17 in the last frame.

Although Toronto walked away with the W, it was Marc Gasol who was the real hero tonight. Marc- who I think looks like Frank Delfino from “How To Get Away With Murder”, and once you see it will make you look at him in a new light but Gasol was playing real basketball. He has been working on his shooting and it boy does it show. Gasol walked off with game a high 27 pts.

Although Toronto is on a six game win streak these next 12 games aren’t going to be easy for them as seven of them are on the road, seven of them are against western conference teams, 10 are against teams above .500 and a combined win percentage of .594 . Toronto is still first in the league and have a whole country behind them wanting them to stay there!Golden State struts into town Thursday in what most predict will be a preview of a best of seven series in June. Tip off is 7:30pm. Who you got ?

Toronto 122- 114 Memphis
