Raptors edge Bulls 124-115
Thursday, January 4, 2018
After Demar DeRozan career night happened it was time for the young stars on the team to step up against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night. Delon Wright etched a career high in points with 25 points. The newcomer to the team Fred VanVleet put up a solid 13 points with the win 124-115.
One thing Raptors fans need to be a little concerned with is the total points the opposing teams are scoring night in and night out. The Raptors in my personal opinion need to tighten up a little bit on defence and set a clear message they have the ability to close out games by not keeping mediocre teams in the game.
Next up is the man that has been playing a little freakish of late by the name of Demar DeRozan who knocked out 35 points in the game shooting 62.5 percent from 3 point land. One has to wonder what has sparked Demar's play of late, is it time to be hungrier for a playoff push or is Demar trying to cement himself into the "SuperStar" mixture. I stated on the "Ballin" podcast on the featured shows page, that this regular season business that we are seeing of late from Demar needs to continue in the playoffs, he cannot disappear in games by shooting 10-30 from the field and expecting results. The time is now for DeRozan and to taking seriously he needs to showcase this new attitude in the playoffs this year.
The Raptors are not being talked about at all as a possible favourite to come out of the Eastern Conference. It legit comes down to Celtics, Cavaliers and Raptors this season. Whoever can avoid one another until the second round should be an entertaining finishing to the 2017-2018 playoff picture.
The Raptors are back on the road as they head to Milwaukee on Friday night for a rival game against the Bucks.
