Raptors win overtime triller
Tuesday, January 9, 2018
The Toronto Raptors remain undefeated in 2018, this has been a jump start for the Raptors as they remain in 2nd in the Eastern Conference with a 28-10 record.
The unfortunate situation happened with Kyle Lowry who went down with back spasms on Monday night, after landing hard on his back in the overtime win against the Brooklyn Nets. Lowry had to be lifted to the locker-room by teammates.
Kyle Lowry finished the game with 18 points and 11 assists playing a solid 37 minutes last night.
Demar DeRozan came off another huge night by flushing the scoring sense by scoring 35 points, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds. Efficiency once again by Demar.
With this injury to Kyle Lowry, there is no timetable set for return yet, but we have to now wonder what direction to the Raptors take with their starting point guard out for a bit of time when it comes down the wire.
When we look at this Raptors backcourt they are a bit thin with experience could we see a potential trade happen sooner than later?
Fred VanVleet has now a chance to be a focal point at the guard position but with the youth and no experience is he able to carry the load the coming weeks to months.
A Jordan Clarkson trade from the Lakers seems to be the most logical explanation if the Raptors can send a package deal to the purple and gold and maybe even pick up Julius Randle in the mix to help with post position.
Raptors have an interesting week ahead as they return home for a three-game skid, they host the Miami Heat today in Toronto at 7:30 pm, then host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night at 8:00 pm. Saturday night they play the defending champions the Golden State Warriors at 7:30 pm.
We will see if the Raptors can craft up some wizardry and take at least one of the games against the top-notch teams that everyone feels will be in the finals.
The Raptors have a chance to take it to the next level this week, I expect them to give Cleveland Cavs a run for there money as they lost last night against my Minnesota Timberwolves in dramatic fashion 127-99.
