Raptors Blinded By The Sun & Come Close To Getting Burnt!
Lowry Hits New Milestone By Reaching 5000 Assists!

DeAndre Ayton who is in the running for ROTY, (Luka Doncic of the Mavericks) is in town and you can't forget about Mr. 5 year/$158 Million dollar man, Devin Booker. Booker is alleged to getting two woman pregnant at the same time but he didn't let outside drama get in his way vs the Toronto Raptors Thursday night. This is Toronto's second game of a back to back. After losing in Boston Wednesday , I think you can say they were hungry for a win and seemed like an easy enough feat vs a team who is 4th last in the league.. that wasn’t the case. Lowry was questionable before the game but ended up lacing up but no Kawhi as he is out to rest. This game was a part of Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation night, which mean they’ll be wearing they’re CAF inspired jerseys...wait a minute! They’re actually wearing they’re ‘earned it’ jerseys...and you know how I feel about those.
Ibaka vs. Ayton and Ayton wins the jump. As mentioned before, DeAndre Ayton is a special young player. He is leading all rookies with 27 double doubles and averaging 16.6 pts, 10.6 reb. Those are impressive stats for a rookie. Do you think he will win ROTY? Ayton finished with yet another double double 15 pts & 17 reb, going 6/8 from the field.
Toronto then goes on a 9-0 run to force a time out from Igor Kokoskov, who (much like Nick Nurse) is in his first season as head coach. Father Time himself, CJ Miles checks in and gets right to work. It’s like Danny Green wearing “CJ’s PJ’s” gave him that boost he needs because he put up 7pts in under 3:00 and if you know the struggle Miles has had this season. He finished with a season high 13 pts. Raptors up 32-20 after the 1st quarter.
The 2nd quarter is looking nice for Delon Wright who shimmy’s, shakes and get buckets! He faked out two different Phoenix defenders and even only contributing 4 pts in the game they were nice ones that got the team and the crowd going!
Fun Fact: The Suns were quite good back in the day. They have an all time lead of 29-17 vs Toronto.
Patrick McCaw finally checks in and looks slimming in red. For an introduction game you don’t expect him to rack up the numbers but to get comfortable with him new teammates and learn Toronto’s style of play. McCaw was matched up vs Devin Booker. Booker put up Phoenix’s first 5 pts and I won’t lie to you. I haven’t seen nearly as many Suns games as I’d like to. They are a very enjoyable team to watch and from this point on they may be my new NBA 2k team (sorry Milwaukee). Booker was quiet in the first half but had a game high 30 pts.
Ibaka picks up his second travelling call of the game with 4:52 to play in the half. He had a team high 22 pts but something seemed off with him. He was making errors just fortunate enough to come back from them. Raps up 46-38.
Phoenix grabs their first lead since the score was 11-10 in the 1st quarter Richaun Holmes after hitting both free throws. Score is now 76-75 with 1:42 left to play in the 3rd frame and stays that way. Raps down 1 pt at the end of the quarter. This is exactly what Kawhi Leonard was referring to when he said “ it shouldn’t come down to the last possession, we need to close out games better”. I couldn’t agree more especially when you are 1st in the league vs a bottom of the list team.
4th quarter action brought to you by Tangerine Hoops. When you’re refer a friend and they sign up, you get money. How cool is that! I swear it’s real I’ve referred many to Tangerine and it’s a great place to bank.
Let’s fast toward to the last two minutes of play. Booker kicks it out to Mikal Bridges who drains what looked like a corner three but his toe was on the line so it was called a two, to give the Sun’s a 1 pt lead with 2:46 to play. Fred Van Vleet responds with a layup at the other end of the court. Pascal and Lowry double team Warren to steal the ball and a chance to lead as the score is now tied at 107. It’s 5 on 4 as Warren stays down. Van Vleet gives the ball to Ibaka who delivers a hook shot over Ayton, 109-107.
Game tied at 109, 13 seconds to play. Raptors possession. Who’s going to get the rock and be the hero ? ‘Spicy P’ has it at the time line going 1v1 against Bridges, he drives left and goes high off the glass and just as the buzzer sounds, the ball falls gently through the net. Siakam wins it for Toronto! He finishes with 10 pts, 5 ast & 12 reb
Once again the 4th quarter for Toronto fans was too close for comfort. A win is a win right?
Fun Fact: Pascal Siakam is now in the running to go to the All-Star game in Charlotte. So that’s three Toronto Raptors and one Veronica Harris. Pascal is 8th in voting while Lowry is 6th & Kawhi is 2nd just below Greek Freak. Don’t forget to vote for now four of us at www.nba.com and don’t forget to check out Tangerine Hoops for a chance to go to the All-Star weekend in February.
Toronto stays cozy at home and will for the next two games until they head to Indiana on Wednesday to face the Pacers and a hot handed Victor Oladipo. Next up are the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies are on a three game losing streak and are at 19-25 this season. Tip off this Saturday at 7:30pm.
Ps.Have you gone to visit Memphis BBQ in Woodbridge yet? If you haven’t, you’re missing out!
