NFL Picks week 1

After a huge upset Thursday night that saw the defending champs lose a rare game at home here are the rest of our week 1 picks:

September 9, 2017

Phi at Was total 47:
The first game in New England saw the game sail over the number. This seems to be a new trend in the NFL where the offences are coming in a little more prepared than the defences after the pre-season. This game screams shootout. Both teams have averages defences at best. Carson Wentz played well in his rookie year and now has Alshon Jeffrey, Torrey Smith and LeGarrette Blount all added to the fold. Kirk Cousins has a lot to prove to get his long term deal and has put up big numbers the last couple years. He is primed for another big season. Pick: Over

LAC +3.5 at Den:
The Chargers have been snake bitten with injuries the last 2 years but Philip Rivers has his full offence back with Keenan Allen and Melvin Gordon returning from their injuries from last year. Rivers has a history of being very good against the spread as an underdog of more than 3 points. Denver has a great defence but many questions on offence. Trevor Siemian gets the starting job by default and I don't see Denver's offence being in sync especially early in the year. Give me the dog!! Pick LAC

IND +4.5 at LAR:
If Andrew Luck was healthy this line would be reversed so an injury to the Colts starting QB is about a 9 point swing in the spread. Bottom line is I can't lay 4.5 with the Rams. They average about 14 points a game last year with Goff under centre. This game could be very ugly but could also go either way so in a situation like that the safe bet is taking the points. Pick IND

NYG+3.5 at Dal:
The Giants own the Cowboys recently beating them 3 straight times and sweeping them last year despite an incredible year from the Boys. Dallas will be an angry team after this off-season that saw Ezekiel Elliott receive a controversial 6 game suspension. Now Zeke will be able to play week 1 while it does not look like OBJ will be healthy enough to go after his pre-season injury vs Cleveland. Dallas has their star, New York will not and Dallas has revenge on their mind. The Cowboys should be able to cover this number with all these factors working in their favour. Pick: Dal

Enjoy the games!
