Toronto Argonauts Game Report

Week 9 saw the Argonauts pull off an incredible 38-6 blowout victory over the Montreal Alouettes en route to regaining first place in the East. It was a significant victory for Toronto, considering the amount of hype surround the first place battle.

With the West Division powerhouse Calgary Stampeders in town, the Argos would have their hands full.

A scoreless first quarter saw either team come up with strong defensive play to keep the gunslingers silent.

It wasn’t until Lirim Hajrullahu nailed a 32-yard field goal to give the Argos a 3-0 lead in the second.

It wasn’t long before Bo Levi Mitchel took matters into his own hands and put Calgary on the board with a touchdown pass to DaVaris Daniels. The 21-yard play saw Daniels come down with a big catch in coverage before finding his way to the end zone.

The Stampeders took a 9-7 lead by the time halftime rolled around.

It would be an uphill battle for Toronto, but unfortunately for the Argos, Calgary would command the wheel the rest of the way.

Calgary exploded for 14 more points and ultimately shut the Argos out in the second half of the game.

When it was all said and done, the Stampeders had accumulated a 23-7 lead and would not look back from there.

Toronto will look to regain their dominant form in Week 11 when they take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Tim Hortons Field.
